“The quiet man” spoke up on Friday evening when the South Holland and Deepings Conservative Association held an audience with Ian Duncan Smith.
The former Tory leader and current secretary of state for work and pensions entertained guests at Spalding’s South Holland Centre with a humorous and insightful speech before answering questions.
Master of ceremonies was local MP John Hayes, and Mr Duncan Smith was introduced by Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson.
Guests also enjoyed a cocktail buffet and there was a raffle and auction, in which bottles of bubbly signed by Mr Duncan Smith and prime minister David Cameron were up for grabs.
