Tulip canvasses are flooding in after a plea to residents to get knitting to create a giant artwork for Spalding in Bloom.
Jan Whitbourn, of Tulip Radio, who launched the idea, is delighted with the response so far, but says there are still plenty of canvasses available for anyone who would like to get involved.
She said: “I can’t believe how it’s taken off.
“So many people have shown interest – I just need more to come and pick up the canvasses.
“It’s easy – people can do what they want as long as their business, names of who got involved with it and the words ‘Spalding in Bloom’ are somewhere on it.
“A lot of people have enquired and I expect to see more schools taking part, it will show what we can do in our community.”
If you would like to take part, email email@example.com for more details and a copy of the tulips knitting pattern.
l There is still time for children to enter to become this year’s Tulipmania Prince and Princess.
Children aged five to 12 from across South Holland can take part in a competition early on Saturday, May 2, and join the Tulipmania procession around Springfields Festival Gardens later in the day.
As well as taking part in the parade and being special guests at events during the year, there are exciting prizes for the winners, including family bowling tickets.
If your child would like to take part, call Tulip Radio on 01775 712400.
