Sometimes in life we just want to get away from it all and wallow in a little bit of luxury.
We want to stay in beautiful accommodation, set in picturesque grounds, eat gorgeous food and totally pamper ourselves.
The above description seem to good to be true, right? Well it’s not and... it’s right on your doorstep.
The QLodges at Belton Woods near Grantham are a little slice of heaven and offer the perfect getaway.
Each lodge and apartment offers a unique slice of luxury, with sauna and jacuzzi included.
There are luxury lodges of all sizes dotted amongst 475 acres of tranquil woodland.
You can stroll through the beautiful countryside and woodland walks, spend a day on the PGA Championship approved golf courses, whizz around the grounds on quad bikes or segways.
There is also a state of the art gym and heated pool in the on-site hotel.
And you can sample the finest in classic British dining in Stantons Brasserie restaurant.
My wife and I spent three nights recently in one of the spacious two-bedroom lodges and it was just the escape we needed from our busy lifestyle.
The rooms were beautiful, the beds so comfortable and the lodge itself so luxurious that we left it much less often than we usually would while on a break.
Apart from an hour spent on the segways on day two, we enjoyed daily walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside and woodland paths and then luxuriated in the spacious whirpool and plush sauna.
After our whirlpool and sauna sessions, we would wear the beautiful white dressing gowns provided at the lodge and sip a glass of wine or two while enjoying the beautiful view from the lounge.
We only ate out the once at the four star Stantons restaurant, choosing instead to self cater, using the excellent kitchen facilities at the lodge.
l There are also two QLodge resorts in Loch Lomond and one in Northumberland.

Exquisite tastes befitting of resort
One of the highlights of our all-too-short stay at Belton Woods was the superb meal we enjoyed at The Brasserie restaurant.
The à la carte menu offers a range of classic British dishes, steaks and fusion cuisine. Or you could enjoy a carvery, which offers a wide selection of salads and hors d’œuvre followed by a choice of roast meats, fish and vegetarian options with a wide range of vegetable and potatoes.
We went à la carte and enjoyed a truly delightful meal.
For starters I had a delicious pressed ham hock and parsley terrine, with a gorgeous tomato and sweet red pepper chutney and focaccia crouton, while my wife said her garlic, lime and chilli king prawns were superb.
We both opted for premium Lincolnshire steaks for our main course, Josi enjoying a sirloin and myself a rib eye.
Served with a choice of sauces, field mushroom, roasted tomato and hand-cut Lincolnshire chips, the meal really was fitting of the luxurious surroundings.
Now, neither of us usually manage three courses, but the choice on this occasion was just too tempting. My dessert of glazed lemon tart and frozen strawberry yoghurt was amazing, as was Josi’s triple chocolate torte.
The menu also included fish, vegetarian and healthy options and there was a very impressive wine list.
It doesn’t have to all be about relaxation...
It’s not all about relaxing at Belton Woods, with Off Limits offering the Spruce Lodge Event Centre for the more adventurous types.
You can ride segways or quad bikes, drive an off-road 4x4, enjoy archery and pistol shooting, go on a treasure hunt or play crazy golf.
My wife and I tried our hand at the segways and what tremendous fun they were.
After a quick lesson we were accompanied by our friendly guide as we zipped around the countryside, building up to speeds of around 12mph.
They are simple to operate, thrilling to ride and very safe too.
