Gedney Hill and Whaplode Drove School children spread happiness in an Eastern European orphanage for Christmas in 1995.

The pupils sent shoeboxes full of toys to youngsters in Bulgaia’s Bursitza orphanage. The youngsters made their collection after hearing Mr Barnes, a retired policeman and also a member of Saltmine Trust Charity at the time, describe the apalling conditions 42 children lived in at the orphanage.
