GATEWAY Club members are off to see the smash hit musical The Lion King in London thanks to a £2,000 boost from Chosen, the community charity shop in Holbeach.

Members Carol Scott and Kate Headland received the donation on behalf of the Boston and district club from Chosen treasurer Barrie Hudson-Peacock.

Chosen opened just over a year ago in Fleet Street and has given a grand total of £13,300 to a variety of good causes.

Volunteer Mary Cooper said visitors to the shop nominate the good causes and that explains the shop’s choice of name.

She said Boston and District Gateway Club was nominated because it covers Holbeach and the donation will fund or part-fund the theatre trip.

The club is part of the Mencap group, which caters for people with learning disabilities.

Chosen is staffed by 18 volunteers and well supported by the community.

Mrs Cooper said: “We want to say thank you to everyone for bringing things in for us to sell and all the customers who come along and buy to support us.”
