FLOWER lovers Ray and Vi Abbott raised £260 for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance by opening their garden to visitors.

The Spalding great grandparents have previously helped Macmillan Cancer Support and Help for Heroes by opening their Park Road patch.

Ray (75) and Vi (67) mostly plant their garden with annuals.

Ray said: “There’s a multitude of plants. It’s all bedding plants. It’s full of flower. It’s something that we enjoy – it’s not hard work if you enjoy it.”

The couple held their open day on August 19 and boosted the takings for charity by serving tea, coffee and cakes.

Celia Laverton, who manages the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance in Spalding, had her own tour of the garden when she visited to collect the couple’s cheque.
