SPALDING Round Table went to the town’s Johnson Community Hospital to complete a bladder scanner appeal in one go by handing over a whopping £9,600.

The appeal was launched by the League of Friends and generous Tablers stumped up the money within seven days.

Round Table’s ways and means officer Matt Clark said: “We just thought it was such a good cause as it will benefit a lot of local people.”

The hospital’s current scanner – also bought by Round Table – urgently needs replacement by an up to date Verathon BladderScan.

Among its many benefits, the new scanner will free patients from the trauma of catheterisation, provide an accurate reading of bladder volume and lower the risk of urinary tract infection.

The League of Friends received other donations towards the scanner and those will be put to good use in the prostate health clinic, where the scanner will be.
