MUSIC lovers in Spalding made sure a charity night went with a swing to raise £6,000.

The RAF Swing Wing Band joined Spalding Fifty Plus Club members and district councillor Graham Dark at the South Holland Centre for a concert in aid of Help for Heroes and the Nightingale Trust.

Coun Graham Dark said: “At first the £6,000 target I set seemed ambitious, but all 340 seats for the concert were sold out within a few days, and there were immediate and generous donations enabling us to reach our goal.”

The RAF Swing Wing Band gave a rendering of the Big Band sound and were joined by guest artist Matthew Ford, in his first visit to Spalding.

This was the RAF band’s second visit to the South Holland Centre.
