The sky was the limit across South Holland over the weekend when residents took to land and water for charity.

On Sunday, members of Welland Yacht Club linked up to race thousands of sailors across hundreds of clubs in 65 countries for Bart’s Bash, held in memory of Olympian Bart Simpson.

The world record attempt was held to raise funds for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation and £300 was raised in Spalding, where the club had 28 dinghies on the water - a record number.

Andy Prior, sailing secretary, said: “It was a great event. We are already looking at a date for next year.”

Fenland Working Weekend took place in fields off Branches Lane, Fleet, on Saturday and Sunday and raised £411 for Holbeach Hospital.

Many tractor and farming enthusiasts took their tractors and machines along to plough and cultivate the fields in the traditional way.

The event was open to both exhibitors and those with working displays.
