A big box overflowing with toys brought Christmas cheer to young patients at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital – thanks to the generosity of Spalding people.
Staff and customers of the Anglia Co-operative Travel branch at Westgate House donated the toys and they were delivered in time for the big day. Store travel sales consultant Carol Price said: “We asked our customers to help us fill a suitcase with toys for children in hospital over Christmas.
“They were brilliant and so were customers of the Westgate department store – so much so that we ended up with a box jam-packed full with toys.”
It was the first ever Santa’s Suitcase appeal run by the store.
Carol said: “We chose the Pilgrim because we all know somebody who has had treatment there.”
Vic Firth, the charitable funds manager at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “These gifts helped brighten the lives of our poorly children over the Christmas period and we would like to extend our thanks to everybody involved in this magnificent effort.”
