Reluctant Crowland May Queen Rachel Wortley (6)and her attendants at the carnival arranged by the Pre-school Playgroup.

Rachel’s mum said her daughter didn’t want to be May Queen because she didn’t like dressing up, but had relented in order to ride on the queen’s float after being crowned by television star Lionel Morton.

Her attendants were eight-year-old Janice Woodruff and Francis Parnell (7).

Rachel and her attendants sat on the queen’s float and rostrum along with pages and flower girls.

There were seven floats in the parade, which was followed by a fancy dress competition.
