A bench bearing a plaque in memory of two sisters who died in a car crash just after Christmas will soon take its place in a Sutton Bridge churchyard, thanks to the fundraising efforts of their friends.

Jazmine Callaby (11), who went to school with Tamzin and Jessica Portor, enlisted the help of her mum Tracy to organise a disco to raise money to buy the bench.

Tamzin (10) and Jessica (7), from Sutton Bridge, died when the car they were in overturned on the A47 near Wisbech.

But the money will now go towards a short break for the sisters’ family after the bench and plaqu e were donated free of charge thanks to Westside Timber and Godfrey Engineering.

Finishing touches are being added before they are installed at St Matthew’s churchyard, close to where the girls are buried.

Around £300 from the event also went to Suzanne Butcher for her ill nephew River. Photo: SG130413-343NG
