There’s a second meeting on Wednesday (March 8) in Spalding aimed at setting up a South Holland Men’s Shed.
There was an initial meeting last month at Tonic Health, based in Broadgate House, Westlode Street.
Michael Morris, chair of trustees at Tonic Health, said: “It was a real delight to see 22 people attending.”
He said Greg Gilbert, who manages the Louth Men’s Shed, answered questions on set-up, recruitment and activities.
Wednesday’s meeting takes place at 10.30am at Tonic Health.
Michael said: “The purpose behind this meeting is to decide on a course of action for the types of activities the South Holland Men’s Shed is likely to offer its members.
“From this point, a suitable location to house the project, and a working party/committee can be put together. Tonic Health and LCVS (Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service) are working together on this project and providing the support to get this project up and running, but the intention is for the group to be self managed, and in time self sustainable, providing an invaluable resource for men in the area to attend.
“The Men’s Shed initiative has international acclaim, but each one runs and operates slightly differently to the next. It is important that the members have their say and lead the projects - which could involve working with wood, metal, cars, gardening, DIY and much more.”
• Long Sutton Men’s Shed meeting takes place at 7pm on Tuesday, March 14 at the town’s Royal British Legion Club.
