Bob Goddard’s science fiction book – two apparently unconnected stories that “weave together to reach a shocking conclusion” – has won further praise from his old English teacher.

Bob has written about a comet that has changed course and is heading for the Earth, throwing the entire planet into chaos. Meanwhile on the Moon, a colony of scientists faces the bleak prospect of being stranded... forever.

Rodney Lines says the scenario of things like meteorites smashing into the earth are “very much part of our current thinking as possibilities”.

He added that the book would probably appeal to young people, and plans to show it to his grandchildren.

Early reviews have suggested it is made into a film.
