A former pub, now a dilapidated cottage, at Churchgate, Gedney Church End, was sold at auction by Hix and Son of Holbeach last week.

The cottage, which was originally The Old Green Man pub, had not been lived in for many years but was sold for £61,000 after some spirited bidding.

A developing builder now intends to carry out a comprehensive scheme of modernisation and repair to the property, which was offered for sale on behalf of Mrs Myrtle Hannah whose husband had passed away earlier this year.
Two other lots at the auction, held at The Reading Rooms, Holbeach, also sold well.
