PEOPLE are still signing up to our We’ve Had Enough campaign which got a thumbs up from TV adventurer Ben Fogle.
About 1,200 people have returned the coupon printed in the Guardian and Free Press over the last four weeks calling for the streets and riverbanks of Spalding to be cleaned up and reclaimed for the town’s residents.
Mr Fogle, whose intrepid exploits include racing across the Sahara Desert, was in Spalding on Monday to talk about his new book, The Accidental Naturalist, and his project to clean up Britain’s riverbanks.
The project comes amid growing anger over the dumping of litter along the River Welland in Spalding.
The author, who grabbed the chance to sit near the river during his visit, said: “I think we don’t appreciate our rivers as much as we should.
“People see throwing rubbish in rivers as sweeping stuff under the carpet.
“They think that if you chuck it in there, that is it but it isn’t.”
