Matthew Flinders: the man behind the map of Australia is the subject of a talk by Dr Gillian Dooley at Thomas Cowley High School, Donington, on Tuesday (7pm).
Dr Dooley is special collections librarian at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia.
This year is an important anniversary as it’s the bicentenary of Matthew Flinders’ death and the publication of his major work in 1814. His achievements are being commemorated around the world.
Dr Dooley gave her talk in Melbourne in August and offered to repeat it in Donington to help the village commemorate its famous son.
