There’s no excuse not to have a sparkling car when you visit your mum on Mother’s Day, thanks to local firefighters.

They will be donning rubber gloves and lathering up on Saturday at Springfields in Spalding and Donington Fire Station, in their largest fundraising event of the year.

The Spalding crew will be at Springfields from 10am, with firefighters at Donington Fire Station from 9am to 3pm.

They will be equipped with sponges and soap ready to clean your car in return for a donation to The Fire Fighters Charity, which helps support serving and retired firefighters and their families.

The aim is to beat the £3,904 raised countywide at the previous wash in September last year.

Local firefighter Bob Machin said: “We would be grateful for any support for a worthy charity helping serving and retired firefighters and their families.”
