HOLBEACH Town Band fundraising stalwart Les Ward has bowed out with farewell sales outside the bandroom and at the community centre.

Les (67) and fellow fundraiser Brenda Twigg have made more than £26,000 for the band over the last 13 years but Les is calling it a day, claiming there has been a spate of thefts from the room where his bric-a-brac is stored.

The bandroom sale raised £95.22 and Sunday’s community centre sale £279.45.

For the bandroom sale one little boy made a card with the words “Bye, Les” on the front.

Les said: “I will treasure that.

“I just want to thank all my customers for their support over the years.”
