So the buzz about this movie – that is also screened in 3D at SHC on Tuesday night – is well and truly warranted, as Matt Damon’s astronaut Mark Watney is left stranded on Mars.

During a manned mission to the Red Planet, Watney is presumed dead and left behind by his crew after a fierce storm, but now with only a month’s worth of supplies he must try and survive on the hostile planet for up to four years until the next mission – especially if he can’t get a signal back to Earth that he is alive.

And if he does, to what lengths will his colleagues and the powers-that-be undertake to get him back – with political bureaucracy and potentially billions of pounds at stake to do so.

An all-star cast, including Damon’s Interstellar co-star Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Michael Pena (Ant-Man), Kate Mara (Fantastic Four), Jeff Daniels (Speed) and Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings), all join Scott’s thrilling ride.

LEGEND (18, SOUTH HOLLAND CENTRE SPALDING, MONDAY AT 7.30PM)

Oscar-winning LA Confidential screenwriter Brian Helgeland directs Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road), who stars as both identical twin gangsters, Ronnie and Reggie Kray, who terrorised London in the sixties.

This crime thriller chronicles the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the duo, with Kingsman’s breakout star Taron Egerton in support.

OUTCAST (15, SHOWCASE CINEMAS PETERBOROUGH, FROM TOMORROW)

Nicolas Cage and Hayden ‘Anakin Skywalker’ Christensen star in this Far East-set action-adventure, as a mysterious warrior teams up with the daughter and son of a deposed Chinese Emperor to defeat their cruel brother – who is seeking their deaths.
