SHOWCASE CINEMAS PETERBOROUGH, FROM MONDAY

One of the most anticipated films of the year – maybe second to only Star Wars: The Force Awakens – finally hits on Monday for the start of half-term.

But Daniel Craig’s 007 will have to go all-out to better the critical acclaim of 2012’s uber-successful franchise semi-reboot Skyfall – which came under the expert tutelage of American Beauty’s Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes.

Fortunately with Mendes (after much persuasion) back behind the camera that could just happen – as James Bond gets a cryptic message from his past to send him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation.

This nicely ties into the ‘Mr White’ (Jesper Christensen) storyline that was prevalent in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace – as the new M (Ralph Fiennes) battles political forces to keep the secret service alive – with SPECTRE receiving a re-birth after playing a major part in early Bond lore.

Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista (as henchman Mr Hinx) co-star, alongside Lea Seydoux (Inglourious Basterds) and Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded) on Bond Girl duties.
