Festivities began in Surfleet when Santa greeted children in the grotto at a Christmas fair in the village hall.
Mrs Claus was on hand to read stories and the chief elf helped distribute gifts.
This is the third year Surfleet Community Group has added a Christmas fair to the events they run annually, including the successful summer fete.
Tony Blisset, organiser, said: “We are a non-profit group that holds events for the community.
“The Christmas fair is an opportunity for local children to come and meet Santa. They left with chocolates and selection boxes and were very happy.”
Other attractions at the fair included craft stalls and a pig roast.
