See Santa at Long Sutton Christmas Fair

editorial image

Long Sutton’s Christmas Fair will stop the traffic this Saturday in the town’s Market Place with Christmassy market stalls, seasonal music and the grand parade of Mr and Mrs Santa Claus to the grotto where they’ll be handing out free gifts to children.

To celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee year, organisers Events and Entertainment in Long Sutton (EELS) have adopted a 1950s theme for Santa and Mrs Claus’ parade, entertainment by ‘Elvis Presley’ from 10.30am and for the best Christmas shop window contest.

The parade led by the Santas’ sledge will set off at 11am from Spring Gardens and will go all round the houses to the grotto in the town centre if it’s fine but take a more direct route if it’s raining.

The people of Long Sutton raise money all year to make sure every child gets a treat from the Clauses.

This year children are asked to collect a colour card and wait for the colour to be called before joining the queue.

At noon John Hayes MP will officially open the fair and introduce the new town crier Charlie Moore.

The town’s new lights, bought with the help of £750 donated by Long Sutton Jubilee group and switched on three weeks ago by the town’s favourite fundraiser Errol Warwick, will be sparkling all day on what promises to be a great occasion.
