One of the most exciting rock and blues musicians the UK has ever produced is performing at The Royal British Legion Club in Donington on Thursday.
Chantel McGregor – Guitarist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year in this year’s British Blues Awards – is said in the music press to produce “stunning” live performances, playing rock blues for a new age.
It was in August, at the Great British R&B Festival in Colne, that Chantel was presented with her two awards.
The awards top past successes of being voted Female Vocalist of the Year in 2012 and Young Artist of the Year in 2011.
Winning four British Blues Awards in three years in competition with highly reputable peers is something to be extremely proud of in itself. The fact that Chantel won awards in three different categories demonstrates her versatility as an artist.
In an industry where male guitarists have been dominant and received most of the limelight on and off stage, it makes a refreshing change and a justifiable first in the history of the British Blues Awards that a female artist has been voted Guitarist of the Year.
Jamming on stage with Joe Bonamassa on two of his tours so far, Chantel is a formidable guitar player, a very talented singer-songwriter and her live performances are truly captivating!
