CELEBRATING the sausage is an annual event in Lutton.
This year was no exception, as some 50 hungry visitors from across the south of the county descended on the Jolly Crispin pub for the 13th annual Bugling in of the Lincolnshire Sausage.
Landlord and lady Alan and Cath Knapp gave over their kitchen to sizzle 19lbs of sausages for the evening supper in aid of Lutton Village Hall.
The sausages arrived to a fanfare provided by buglers Arthur and Maureen Male, from Fleet, to raise £525.
Organiser Mandy Tolliday said: “It’s the main fundraising event for the village hall. It’s a bit of fun and it’s something in the village for everyone.”
The sausages were provided for free by Swepstones butchers in Holbeach, while QV Foods in Holbeach Hurn provided peeled potatoes for the mash.
A selection of vegetables were also on the menu.
Fun and games continued into the evening, with a game of roll the pound coin towards the whiskey bottle boosting the coffers by £50. A few rounds of Play Your Cards Right collected £25.
The money raised will be used to replace the boiler in the village hall.
