Record crowds helped to make it a truly memorable Family Funfest at Holy Trinity Church, Holbeach.

Proceeds from the fun day were £1,800 – beating last year’s total – and will help towards the maintenance of the church, which has recently upgraded its heating and been repainted.

Organiser Rachel Ingle said: “It was a great success. We had more people there than we have ever had in the past.”

Several of the attractions at the event, including the group Retrospect, Britain’s Got Talent contestants Berkley Owls and the barbecue, donated their services free of charge and helped boost the profit going to the church.

Miss Ingle said: “It goes towards the upkeep of the church, just to keep the church in good order and keep the doors open.”

Among other attractions at Funfest were Sissy’s Threading, bottle and cake stalls, and competitions.
