The latest news from our girl about town
Angel’s daily commute home from Spalding is often one filled with chaos on the Norfolk Green 505 bus to King’s Lynn.
Angel was infuriated last week when her usual bus appeared to drive into the distance a whole five minutes before it was due to leave. As Angel ran as quick as her little legs would carry her to the bus station, she discovered another bus on the same route waiting at the stop with a perplexed looking driver waiting for passengers. The either very early or very late other bus picked every other passenger up on the route, meaning that Angel enjoyed a whole double-decker bus to herself for the first (and presumably last) time – what a treat!
• This has been a fabulous week at work – mainly because of the mountain of cakes members of staff have baked and put on sale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Feeling tired after the day’s sugar rush, on her way home it was tempting even for Angel to walk past a poor young woman who had got stuck between two cars trying to reverse out in front of Mai Thai restaurant.
But that wouldn’t have been very Angel-like (getting stuck would have been), so she tapped on the window and asked if she could help.
Immediately the girl got out of the car and said ‘yes please’, inviting her to take the wheel and move the car to face the right direction.
As soon as the car was turned round, the woman rushed to open the car boot and handed Angel a bottle of wine to say thank you. She really didn’t have to, but what a fab end to a great day!
• Two chaps in orange boiler suits were enjoying a cuppa from the mobile wagon that parks on Holland Market. One of them then answered his mobile with the words: “This is Tigger speaking ...”
