A HIGH percentage of people in South Holland have opted to fill in their Census form online ahead of the big day, but don’t worry if you are struggling with the paper version.
A series of drop-in sessions with members of the local Census team present have been arranged to help people complete their forms, either because they don’t understand the questions or have poor eyesight, for instance.
Census area manager for South Holland Colin Davison says his team is making a special effort with older people, with drop-in sessions arranged at sheltered housing complexes. Migrant workers who are struggling with the language will be able to get help at sessions arranged at Spalding Primary School, where a couple of classroom assistants are bilingual.
Mr Davison added: that the team is also working with landlords of properties who have Eastern European tenants by doing sessions for them.
He said: “These are the groups we think might need more helpbut we are also running drop-in sessions for the general public in village halls, the library and churches have been very helpful as well.”
While Census day is Sunday, people are being encouraged to fill in their form online now - details for this can be found on the paper Census form. Paper forms should be returned within two weeks after Census day - after that collectors will visit homes to help with completing the forms.
