EXTRA help from staff at Bourne Household Waste Recycling Centre has been confusing residents worried the facility is under threat.
One resident tweeted: “What is happening at Bourne recycling centre? Firstly hours cut, unloading system changed and now rumours of closure.”
But Lincolnshire County Council says there are no plans to close the centre on the Pinfold Lane Industrial Estate and the changes are due to health and safety concerns.
The spokesman said: “There are no plans to close the Bourne HWRC. We have just let a new three-year contract with the contractor.
“Residents may notice that staff are even more helpful than before, taking their waste from them and carrying it to the skips.
“This is because we’ve received advice people shouldn’t climb the steps and put their own rubbish into the skip. The safety of everyone using the site is our top priority and we must adhere to this.
“Also a one-way system has also been introduced, to help improve the flow of traffic around the site and reduce the risk of any minor collisions.”
Rumours of an extra council-owned facility at Baston were denied.
The spokesman said: “There are no plans to open an additional facility at Baston. A planning application by a private company is totally unconnected to our provision of recycling facilities.”
