MOTORISTS have been warned to expect delays as more than a fortnight of A17 resurfacing gets under way next week.
The “essential” work will last from Thursday, July 5 to Friday, July 20. It will go on 24 hours a day, subject to weather conditions.
The improvements will start east of Foxes Low Road junction with the A17 at Holbeach and continue to its junction with Lowgate at Fleet Hargate.
Arthur Pearson, principal engineer with Lincolnshire County Council, said: “These enhancements are being carried out to help ensure the roads are in a safe condition for motorists to use – no road can last forever.
“We’ll have a convoy system in place with traffic lights to keep people on the move, but do allow extra time for your journey, or find an alternative route.”
Motorists will not be able to use side roads to get onto the A17 at some stages of works. Advance warning signs will be installed in the vicinity of these roads beforehand and residents will be shown safe access through the closures.
Appropriate diversion routes will be signed throughout.
The county council says residents, emergency services and bus operators have been informed.
