Staff at Tesco raised £1,500 towards an ambitious project to breathe new life into Carter’s Park at Holbeach.

The community champion for Tesco at Holbeach, Beki Wellard, and the store staff are now ten per cent of the way towards their £15,000 goal.

Carter’s Park can look forward to a makeover with plans to build an outside gym, picnic area, new soft flooring for the children’s park, a larger sand pit with equipment, and a quiet seating area in a floral setting.

The revamp is aimed at turning the open space into a child friendly, aesthetic, popular area for the community.

Tesco’s first fundraiser was held at the Boston Road South store over a weekend.

It consisted of a cake sale, tombola, fancy dress, non-uniform for staff, and a sponsored 500 mile bike ride on a static bike.

Beki said the cake sale had an astounding show of support from customers and staff alike. And the 500 mile bike ride was a challenge that was happily taken up by the charitable staff.

Beki and her colleagues hope that the outstanding support they have received remains constant with their other fundraisers and that the campaign encourages others to take pride in their community and strive to actively improve their local area.
