Eva Sylvea, known as Eva Sly, was to perform at a patriotic concert in Spalding, and it was said to be looked forward to with great interest.
The concert was in aid of the local Belgian Refugees’ Fund, the Red Cross and St John Ambulance and was being given under “distinguished patronage”.
The talent at the performance was to include Eva, from Queens Hall in London.
She was said to perform at many provincial concerts and possessed a fine contralto voice.
She was the daughter of Henry Sly, who lived in Sutton St Edmunds before moving to London. They were a well known Spalding family.
