Spalding High School and Moulton Community Association must wait for votes to be counted before they learn if they were successful in gaining grants for their energy projects.
Both were listed on the Marks and Spencer Energy Fund project website and voting also took place in stores. Their projects will be judged by a panel of industry professionals before the winner is announced.
The school has a rolling programme to replace traditional lighting with energy-saving LED systems, which head teacher Michele Anderson says will free up cash to spend “on other important school projects”.
Moulton Community Association is raising money towards an £11,000 energy efficient heating system and LED lighting for the village hall, formerly the grammar school.
The association also runs the next door community centre in Broad Lane and has already received a £10,000 Lottery grant for a similar project to stop it haemorrhaging cash on energy bills.
