This glorious climbing rose grown in Holbeach has not only impressed flower show judges but caught the attention of television crews.

Style Roses’ Orange Blossom Special, one of two launched at Hampton Court, helped earn Chris and Margaret Styles a Silver medal.

However, Chris adds: “The rose was one of five especially featured in BBC 2’s coverage with Rachel de Thame. She was very impressed with the quality of the rose and commented on the beautiful complementary and unusual contrast of red stems and burnt orange blooms.”

The other rose launched at the show was a floribunda, Little Duet.

South Lincolnshire’s other award-winner at the show was Southfield Nurseries-Cactusland, which won gold.

Linda and Bryan Goodey’s display was designed to show different structures of plants rather than a mass of flower.

Their daughter Eleanor said: “The trailing cacti solicited a lot of interest as they are that bit more unusual. We also included two 40-year-old cacti.”
