SOUTH Holland District Council’s photovoltaic solar panels – installed on the roof of the council offices in Priory Road, Spalding – are starting to generate money, councillors heard.

Coun Howard Johnson, portfolio holder for economic development, said between July 1 and October 12 the panels had benefited the council to the tune of £3,746.

The panels were installed at a cost of £89,000 and Coun Johnson says the pay-back period will be nine to ten years but they will last a lot longer, 25 years at least.
