If winning or losing depends on having the right people, then Spalding Plant & Bulb Company has success in the bag.

And when it comes to staff satisfaction, the business, part of the largest mail order company in Europe, can tick all the boxes too.

Spalding Plant & Bulb Company (Plantiflor Ltd) has celebrated over 25 years’ dedicated service with some very special members of staff.

Special projects manager Anne Rowell, team leader Helen Rowley, customer service advisor Nancy Darley, head of data entry Janette Hardstaff and data entry assistant Tina Courtman are part of the original team that helped to set up and grow the company to the successful business it is today. Impressively, Anne Rowell has never had a day off work, apart from holidays, since starting there 25 years ago.

Managing director Adrian Nind said: “Our business benefits from its loyal and dedicated workforce. With over 125 years of experience between them, these members of our team are an inspiration to us all with their experience, knowledge and commitment. I feel very privileged to work with them.”

The company was among the pioneers that established new links with Dutch bulb growers to reintroduce their fabulous flowers and bulbs to the UK garden market.

Many of these entrepreneurs were based in the Spalding area, where flower bulbs have been grown for over a century.

Plantiflor Ltd was founded in Britain soon after the Second World War and is part of the Bakker Group, with 65 years’ experience as a garden mail order company.

A company spokesman said: “The company has grown from strength to strength to become one of Britain’s most trusted mail order garden catalogue businesses.”
