Statistics that show crime is coming down in Lincolnshire don’t differentiate between the theft of a bicycle and a large, expensive piece of agricultural equipment.

That’s one of the messages that farmers at the Long Sutton meeting with the county’s police and crime commissioner Alan Hardwick got across.

Long Sutton Agricultural Society called for the meeting to encourage a greater police focus on rural crime.

Society secretary Ken Knock said: “I accept thefts are coming down, it’s just we have a hot spot in this part of the world, but I think we achieved our objective.”
