A former gym and storeroom in Old Main Road, Fleet, will be turned into two one-bedroom homes – but the verdict was decided on the casting vote of planning chairman Coun Roger Gambba-Jones.

Coun Peter Coupland said the property was more suitable for a two-bedroom bungalow rather than trying to squeeze two homes inside.

But Coun Bryan Alcock said: “It’s difficult to see how you could find a reason for refusal that would stick.”
