Solar farms as well as domestic and commercial roofs all generated record monthly totals for power production during the hot month of July.

That included the NFU’s own conference centre solar roof, which pumped out 4,800 electricity units, 20 per cent more than the same time last year.

The more modest modules on the home of NFU chief renewables adviser Dr Jonathan Scurlock generated 28 per cent more than July 2012.

Ofgem has confirmed that Feed-in Tariff incentives for solar PV will remain unchanged from October 1 to the end of the year, with 14.9p/kWh available for the smallest domestic system and 11.1p/kWh for mid-sized set ups.
