Government figures demonstrate CAP importance

With England’s wettest year on record a key factor in driving down farm profit, new government forecasts – of declines across most sectors – for farm income underline the importance of CAP to the farming industry, the NFU has said.

The NFU says the figures serve as a timely reminder that single farm payments act as a lifeline for many farm businesses and play a vital role when it comes to adapting to increasingly volatile agricultural markets.
