Around 70 per cent of applicants to this year’s Single Payment Scheme were completed online, according to the NFU’s director of policy Dr Andrew Clark.
Speaking at the CAP reform meeting at Springfields, he said from 2015, each application must be digital, which would present problems for farmers with poor broadband speeds or who lacked confidence with computers. The NFU is to offer practical guidance briefings.
NFU members can keep up to date with the CAP implantation details at NFUOnline.com and clicking on the CAP Essentials pages at nfuonline.com/business/cap/cap-essentials/. Members can download key briefings from here which will be updated as clarification is gained from Defra and RPA.
