Amber flood alert at Bourne

An amber flood alert is in place in Bourne after yesterday’s heavy rainfall.

Between 20mm and 40mm of rain fell causing tributaries to rise and a flood warning across the area.

At one point the A15 at Northorpe, near Bourne, was nearly closed by Lincolnshire highways authority because of surface water.

But a spokesman said it was passable with care and remained open.

The alert remains in place due to more rain being expected this afternoon.
