A FLEET woman will be jetting to Hong Kong and Bali later this year after being named Avon’s top area sales manager in the UK.

Eileen Gilliatt will also be driving a BMW car for the next year as part of her reward from the cosmetics company.

“I knew I was doing well but I did not expect to be number one in the UK,” she said. “When they said the names for the third and fourth places, I thought that it was it. When they announced my name it was unbelievable.

“I was gobsmacked.”

Eileen (59) has worked for the company for 12 years and has been named in the top 45 area managers four times.

She covers the east and south of Peterborough, along with Crowland, Long Sutton, Sutton Bridge, Wisbech, March, Ramsey and Whittlesey.

Avon treats its top ten per cent of area managers to a holiday each year, with this year’s departing in April.

Trips Eileen has previously been on include Australia, a south China seas cruise, Argentina and Brazil.

Only the top four people receive a car.

Her husband Colin (60) will also be flying out to join her in Bali.

“It will be really nice for him to enjoy it too,” said Eileen. “He’s had to put uo with a lot of hours over the years.”

Eileen believes her top-ranking is an achievement not only for her but for her team of 900 representatives and 40 self-employed sales leaders.

She said: “I am the manager but it’s the area which is number one to me.

“It’s about all the representatives and the sales leaders who have taken part.

“Without them and our customers I would not have managed it.”

This year will be Eileen’s last with the company, as she will retire next March.
