YEAR 8 pupils at George Farmer Technology College, Holbeach, took part in their own ‘slam jam’ competition in the run-up to regional slam jam semi-finals being held at the school.

Pupils had to write and perform a poem, story or monologue to youngsters from Years 7 and 8 and were judged by a panel of teachers and children.

The winner was Monica Gedney (12) and David Shire was runner-up.

Three pupils took joint third place, Dexter Facey (13), Cameron Sleight (13) and Calum Walker (12).

The English department also ran a writing competition where pupils wrote a version of a Greek myth.
