Spalding High School student Megan Hartfil-Allgood (16) is making room among her growing collection of trophies and medals for the Outstanding Sporting Achievement Award won on Thursday.

The Donington teenager had company from her school in the category, with rowing twins Ruby and Jasmine Latka joined by county bowls champion Ruby Hill of Bourne Academy.

Megan, who became a 2nd Dan black belt in taekwondo last month, said: “I didn’t really expect to win the award but I’m really dedicated to my sport. What I really like doing is helping the junior grade players and it’s become more than just a hobby for me.”

The judges said: “All the nominees had impressive claims, but Megan’s modesty and her determination to give something back won us over.”
