Children from Surfleet Seas End Primary School scooped top prize in the village’s first-ever scarecrow contest with straw effigies of their headteacher and two pupils.
Each scarecrow was made by a team of budding sculptors in one of the school’s three houses.
Headteacher Dawn Neal‘s straw double was given a bright pink cardigan, llipstick to match and a bead necklace, and the two pupils wore school uniform tops.
All three stormed to victory in the contest at this month’s Surfleet village fete and the school celebrated last week.
School administrator Anita Phillips said: “The children had a lot of fun taking part in the contest and we’re all hoping it will be repeated next year so they can have another go”
