Staff at a Donington school have been cooking up more than academic success.
The fiercely fought Staff Cook of the Year 2013 competition at Thomas Cowley High School has been won by Vanessa Majer.
Vanessa served up a dish of salmon with hollandaise sauce, new potatoes and a salad of pea shoots, sugar peas, and asparagus in balsamic dressing, followed by choux buns with chocolate and peanut fudge sauce.
Eight members of staff and a school governor took part, assisted by nine staff skivvies.
Skivvy of the Year was Janet Dixon, who supported Mick Broadhurst.
Judges were Sally Elkington of the Lincs FM Group and Carl Smith and Adrian Walker-Slade of the Hospitality and Catering Department at Boston College.
