Year 11 students at Sir John Gleed School made their leavers’ day one to remember.

With the change in the law that everyone post 16 must stay in some form of recognised training or education until their 18th birthday, the students are now preparing for their next step. Some are planning on going on to college or 6th form or the post 16 centre.

To mark their time at the school, a celebratory assembly was held where staff showed a video and pictures of the students from year 7 through to now. Fun awards were given out and also awards for attendance and positive attitude.

Students Ivan Frietas and Rebecca Beale closed the assembly with a song.

Then it was out onto the school field to enjoy inflatable rides, a bucking bronco and to fill in message books for each other. They even had an ice cream and chip van.

Their teacher Kathryn Wilson said: “A fantastic time was had by all to celebrate the end of a fantastic year.”
