YOUTH Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Harry Owen led a day of sporting activities at Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Hall School.

Every pupil took part in the Sports for Schools programme and sponsorship money raised will go to the organisation as well as help buy sports equipment for the school.

Star gymnast Harry, who will be 19 on Saturday, rounded off the visit with a talk to the whole school – and demonstrated his gymnastic prowess with multiple back flips across the hall and a diving forward roll over four members of staff.

School sports teacher Zoe Lawniczak said: “The children were inspired, they were absolutely wowed by his demonstrations.

“He is one of Great Britain’s top male gymnasts.”

She said Harry, based in Loughborough, was the 2010 Under 18 Welsh Champion.

He has now joined the British senior team.
