SAINSBURY’S in Spalding has been putting a little back into the community with two projects at Garth School.

Contractors working on the revamp of the Holland Market store’s filling station put up a 5ft fence around the school playground.

And a 16-strong contingent from the management team at the store gave the school’s swimming pool building a new coat of bright blue paint, completing the job in one afternoon.

Store deputy manager Adrian Webb said: “When we have contractors on site, we try to get them to do things in the community.

“As a store we support the local community. We have our charity of the year and we also look at other bits and pieces we can do in the community.”

Garth School head of site Sue Hutchinson said the pool painting project was part of a team building exercise – and store staff only found out on the day.

She said both projects were done free of charge and the school was very grateful.
